Sohma House Pty Ltd, trading as Sohma House, ABN pending, located at 17 Anderson St, Manunda QLD 4870, operates as a health service provider under applicable Commonwealth and Queensland legislation.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between you ("Patient", "you") and Sohma House Pty Ltd ("Sohma House", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of our healthcare services, website, and digital platforms.
These Terms should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which details how we collect, use, and protect your personal and health information.
Agreement to Terms
By booking an appointment, registering as a patient, using our website, or receiving any of our services, you agree to these terms.
If you don't agree, please don't use our services. You can withdraw from care at any time — see the section on ending care below.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll let you know.

By accessing or using services provided by Sohma House — including booking appointments (online, by phone, or in person), completing patient registration, submitting information through our website, or attending a consultation — you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use our services. Continued use of our services following any modification to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Queensland, Australia. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.

- Allied health — physiotherapy, remedial massage

Read the legal detail
Services are provided by registered and qualified healthcare practitioners operating within their respective scopes of practice, as regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant professional bodies.
Medicinal cannabis is prescribed under the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Special Access Scheme Category B (SAS-B) or Authorised Prescriber (AP) pathways, in accordance with the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth) and applicable state legislation. Not all patients are eligible for cannabis treatment — eligibility is determined by clinical assessment.
Sohma House reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any service at any time. Where a patient has pre-paid for a service that is discontinued, a refund or credit will be provided.
Information provided on our website, social media, or in educational materials is for general information purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. It is not a substitute for professional clinical assessment by a qualified healthcare provider.
Your health comes first
These terms exist to support your care, not to override clinical judgment. If there's ever a conflict between a term on this page and what your doctor believes is best for your health, your health wins.
Our practitioners are bound by professional and ethical obligations under AHPRA that take precedence over any administrative policy. Your wellbeing is the priority — always.
Appointments and Cancellations
Booking: Appointments can be made online, by phone, or in person. You'll receive a confirmation by email or SMS.
Before your appointment: For initial consultations, you may be asked to complete an intake questionnaire. Please complete it before your appointment — it helps your doctor prepare and means more time for your actual consultation.
Cancellations: We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments ("no-shows") may incur a fee of up to 50% of the scheduled service cost.
Late arrivals: If you arrive late, your appointment may be shortened to avoid disrupting other patients. The full fee still applies.
Our cancellations: If we need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we'll give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time.
Read the legal detail
Appointment bookings constitute a confirmed commitment by both the patient and Sohma House. Bookings are managed through our practice management system (Halaxy) and confirmed via email or SMS to the contact details on file.
Intake requirements: Initial consultations may require completion of a pre-appointment intake questionnaire. Failure to complete required intake documentation may result in the consultation being rescheduled, as the treating practitioner requires this information to provide safe clinical care.
Cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend without notice, may result in a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the scheduled service cost. This fee reflects the cost of reserved clinical time that cannot be reallocated at short notice.
Late arrival: Patients arriving after the scheduled appointment time may have their consultation shortened to maintain the clinic's schedule. The full consultation fee applies regardless of the duration of the shortened appointment.
Clinic-initiated cancellations: Sohma House will provide reasonable notice of cancellations or rescheduling due to practitioner unavailability, emergencies, or operational requirements. No cancellation fee applies to clinic-initiated changes.
Cancellation fees may be waived at the Practice Manager's discretion in cases of genuine emergency or extenuating circumstances.
Fees and Payment
Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
We accept cash, EFTPOS, and major credit cards.
Medicare: Some consultations may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. If you're eligible, we can process the claim on the spot — you'll need your Medicare card. Not all services attract a Medicare rebate.
Private health insurance: Some allied health and natural therapy services may be claimable through your private health fund. Check your policy before your appointment — coverage varies widely.
Cannabis consultations: Medicinal cannabis consultations are private services. Medicare rebates may apply to the GP consultation component where applicable, but the cannabis products themselves are not subsidised by the PBS.
Fee schedule: Current fees are available on request. We'll always tell you the expected cost before treatment begins.
Read the legal detail
Payment for services rendered is due at the time of consultation unless a prior written arrangement has been made with the Practice Manager. Failure to pay may result in the outstanding amount being referred for collection, and future appointments may be suspended until the balance is settled.
Medicare and DVA: Where applicable, Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) rebates may be claimed for eligible consultations. Bulk billing is not offered as a standard arrangement. DVA-eligible patients should present their DVA card; eligible services will be billed directly to DVA.
Private health insurance: Patients are responsible for verifying their private health insurance coverage prior to their appointment. Sohma House does not guarantee that any service will be covered by a patient's health fund. Rebate amounts are determined by the patient's individual policy.
Medicinal cannabis products: Cannabis medicines prescribed under the SAS-B or AP pathway are not listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and are purchased at full cost from the dispensing pharmacy. Product costs vary by formulation and supplier. Sohma House does not set or control the price of cannabis products.
Fee transparency: A schedule of current consultation fees is available on request. Patients will be informed of expected costs prior to the commencement of treatment. Where additional services or investigations are recommended during a consultation, the associated costs will be communicated before proceeding.
Sohma House reserves the right to adjust fees with reasonable notice. Fee changes do not apply to pre-booked and pre-paid services.
Cannabis-Specific Terms
Medicinal cannabis is a regulated medicine in Australia. If your doctor prescribes cannabis, there are specific legal and clinical requirements you should understand.
TGA approval: Most cannabis prescriptions require approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) before your doctor can prescribe. Your name, condition, and proposed treatment are submitted to the TGA — this is a legal requirement, not our choice. Your doctor will explain this and obtain your consent before submitting.
Your responsibilities:
- Use cannabis products only as prescribed by your Sohma House practitioner
- Do not share your prescribed cannabis with anyone else — it is a criminal offence
- Store your products securely and out of reach of children
- Attend follow-up appointments as recommended by your treating doctor
- Tell your doctor about all other medications and supplements you're taking
Driving: In Queensland, it is illegal to drive with any detectable THC in your system — regardless of whether you feel impaired. If you're prescribed a THC-containing product, your doctor will discuss the driving implications with you.
Travel: Australian cannabis prescriptions may not be recognised in other states or territories in the same way, and are almost certainly not valid overseas. If you plan to travel, discuss this with your doctor first.
Read the legal detail
Medicinal cannabis is a Schedule 4 (prescription only) or Schedule 8 (controlled drug) substance under the Poisons Standard and is prescribed in accordance with the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth), the Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 (Qld), and applicable TGA regulatory frameworks.
Prescribing pathway: Cannabis prescriptions are issued via the TGA Special Access Scheme Category B (SAS-B) or Authorised Prescriber (AP) pathway. SAS-B applications require submission of patient information to the TGA, including the patient's name, clinical condition, and proposed treatment. This disclosure is mandated by law and constitutes an authorised disclosure under Australian Privacy Principle 6.2(b).
Patient obligations:
- Products must be used strictly in accordance with the prescriber's directions. Off-label or non-prescribed use is not sanctioned by Sohma House.
- Diversion, sharing, or supply of prescribed cannabis products to any other person is a criminal offence under Commonwealth and Queensland law.
- Patients are responsible for the secure storage of their prescribed products.
- Patients must attend follow-up consultations as clinically directed. Failure to attend may result in inability to issue repeat prescriptions, as ongoing clinical monitoring is a requirement of the prescribing pathway.
- Patients must disclose all concurrent medications, supplements, and substances to their prescribing doctor to enable safe prescribing and identify potential interactions.
Driving and operating machinery: Under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 (Qld), it is an offence to drive with any detectable level of THC in saliva or blood. This is a presence-based offence — impairment is not required. Patients prescribed THC-containing products must not drive or operate heavy machinery if THC may be detectable. The clinical and legal implications are discussed during the prescribing consultation and documented in the consent record.
Interstate and international travel: Cannabis prescriptions issued in Queensland are recognised within Australia, however regulatory requirements may vary by state and territory. Patients travelling interstate should carry their prescription and a letter from their prescribing doctor. International travel with medicinal cannabis is subject to the laws of the destination country and may be illegal. Sohma House does not provide advice on the legality of cannabis in foreign jurisdictions.
Refusal and discontinuation: Sohma House reserves the right to refuse or discontinue cannabis treatment where, in the clinical judgment of the treating practitioner, continued treatment is not in the patient's best interest, where the patient fails to comply with treatment conditions, or where there is evidence of diversion or misuse.
Health Information and Consent
Please be honest and thorough. Your doctor relies on the information you provide to make safe clinical decisions. If something is incomplete or inaccurate, it could affect your care.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete health information, including your full medical history, current medications, allergies, and any relevant lifestyle factors
- Update us if your information changes — a new medication, a new diagnosis, a change of address
- Tell your doctor if you're receiving treatment elsewhere for the same condition
Informed consent: Your doctor will explain any proposed treatment — what it involves, the expected benefits, the risks, and any alternatives. You won't be treated without your consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
For details on how we store and protect your information, see our Privacy Policy.
Read the legal detail
Patients are required to provide accurate, complete, and current personal and health information as reasonably necessary for the provision of safe clinical care. This obligation extends to initial registration, intake questionnaires, and ongoing consultations.
Sohma House relies on the accuracy of patient-provided information for clinical decision-making, including prescribing. Sohma House accepts no liability for adverse outcomes attributable to inaccurate, incomplete, or withheld information provided by the patient.
Informed consent: Treatment is provided on the basis of informed consent, obtained in accordance with the requirements of the Queensland Civil Liability Act 2003 and professional standards established by AHPRA and the Medical Board of Australia. Informed consent includes explanation of the nature of the proposed treatment, expected benefits, material risks, and available alternatives.
Consent for treatment is documented in the clinical record. Consent may be withdrawn by the patient at any time. Withdrawal of consent for a specific treatment does not affect the patient's right to receive other services.
For information regarding the collection, use, storage, and protection of personal and health information, refer to our Privacy Policy.

Limitation of Liability
We provide the best care we can, but healthcare outcomes can't be guaranteed. Every person responds differently to treatment, and results vary.
Sohma House and its practitioners are not liable for outcomes that fall within the normal range of clinical uncertainty — provided care was delivered in accordance with professional standards.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law or your ability to make a complaint through AHPRA or other regulatory bodies.
Read the legal detail
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sohma House Pty Ltd, its directors, employees, and contracted practitioners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or in connection with the use of our services, including but not limited to loss of income, loss of data, or adverse health outcomes within the normal range of clinical uncertainty.
This limitation does not apply to liability arising from negligence, wilful misconduct, or breach of any duty that cannot be excluded by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or other term or condition implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited. If Sohma House is liable under a non-excludable provision, liability is limited (to the extent permitted by law) to the re-supply of the relevant service or the payment of the cost of having the service re-supplied.
Practitioners providing services through Sohma House maintain professional indemnity insurance as required by AHPRA registration standards.
Ending Care
You can stop being a patient at any time. Just let us know. There's no lock-in, no contract, no exit fee.
If you're on an active cannabis prescription, your doctor will discuss transition options to ensure continuity of care — you won't be left without treatment abruptly.
When we may end care: In rare cases, we may need to end the clinical relationship — for example, if a patient is abusive to staff, consistently fails to attend appointments, or does not comply with treatment conditions (such as cannabis diversion). This is always a last resort, and we'll give you written notice and help you find alternative care.
Your records are retained for the legally required period regardless of whether you remain an active patient. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
Read the legal detail
Patient-initiated termination: Patients may terminate the clinical relationship at any time by notifying the Practice Manager. No termination fee or penalty applies. Where the patient is receiving ongoing treatment (including active cannabis prescriptions), the treating practitioner will offer a reasonable transition period and, where clinically appropriate, provide a summary to the patient's nominated alternative provider.
Clinic-initiated termination: Sohma House may terminate the clinical relationship where:
- The patient engages in behaviour that is abusive, threatening, or disruptive to staff or other patients.
- The patient repeatedly fails to attend scheduled appointments without reasonable notice.
- The patient fails to comply with treatment conditions, including suspected diversion or misuse of prescribed medications.
- The treating practitioner determines that the clinic is no longer able to meet the patient's clinical needs.
Clinic-initiated termination will be communicated in writing with reasonable notice (except where immediate safety concerns apply). Sohma House will provide a clinical summary and assist in the transition to alternative care where clinically appropriate.
Termination of the clinical relationship does not affect the obligation to retain clinical records in accordance with health records legislation. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time — for example, if our services change, if the law changes, or if we need to clarify something.
When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes that affect your rights or obligations, we'll notify you directly.
Read the legal detail
Sohma House reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. The current version is always available at sohma.house/terms.
Material changes — including changes to fees, cancellation policies, or patient obligations — will be communicated to active patients via the contact details on file. Continued use of Sohma House services following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are reviewed annually, or when relevant legislative or operational changes occur.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by Queensland law. If there's ever a dispute, we'd prefer to resolve it by talking first.
If you have a concern about your care, raise it with your practitioner or our Practice Manager. Most issues can be resolved through a conversation.
If you're not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the relevant regulatory body — AHPRA for clinical concerns, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner for privacy concerns.
